Sometimes when you have a woman among a group of anglers, asking a lot of questions, it might cause some friction in the group. This is because men rather take their sport more seriously than most women, especially those just beginning to learn the sport.
You can also try to get her interested in your sport by bringing her to watch an all-women ice fishing contest.
From another point of view, if you can provide her with some of the modern conveniences like a bathroom and heater, they might be willing to go along with you. However, if you ice fish the traditional way, you are taking a big chance that she won’t complain after a couple of hours.
The biggest advantage in tweaking a woman’s interest in ice fishing is that once she understands your passion for ice fishing, she won’t give you any more problems if you want to take off with your buddies for a weekend of ice fishing. It’s the simple principle of knowing it to understanding it.
Another advantage you would gain by introducing ice fishing to women is they can help you with your basic needs like food. Plus a woman’s instinct can sometimes detect danger signs before you can. Now that’s a big help especially when you get too engrossed with the mechanics of ice fishing.
Women are getting into ice fishing more every year, and pretty soon, you will see less of the bikini clad women on the ice, and more serious women anglers who might end up teaching you a thing or two about ice fishing!
